About Me

I’m married to Sandra and we’re the parents of two adult children, Christopher and Kerryann – probably our greatest achievements!

However, this is supposed to be all About Me… I started my working life as an apprenticed TV Engineer in my hometown (Southport, Lancashire) in the mid 1960s working for 3 local TV sales/repair businesses before becoming qualified and moving on to Granada TV Rental as a TV Technician in early 1973

Moved on up through the management route via various positions and locations until eventually becoming Technical Projects Manager in Granada’s Head Office (Ampthill Rd, Bedford)

Gaining a degree in Maths & Computer Science changed my career direction significantly and I was asked to lead the newly formed Information Development Department which developed my fascination for Software/Systems Development, Programming and Computer Hardware.

Shifted employment in late 1997 to a fledgling start-up company (PayPoint) providing Retail Payment Systems into convenience stores and worked in various roles culminating in Systems Development Manager.

In my ultimate working years, I qualified as a Prince2 Practitioner and joined Johnston Press as an IT Project Manager in their Web Systems Development Operation.

Retired in September 2016 and just loving every minute.
I’ve not had a day off since then!

Currently the Rockin’ Rhythm guitarist for 2 Bedford based covers bands
Vintage Stuff (http://www.vintage-stuff.co.uk) and
Generation 5pan (https://www.facebook.com/Generation5pan).
